The Daily Record has selected Brook Lane’s Chief Medical Officer, Michael Hann, MD, MBA, CPE, FACHE, FAPA as a 2023 Health Care Hero.
As home to several renowned medical and federal institutions, Maryland is a national leader in health care research and development. The Daily Record’s Health Care Heroes Awards honor those individuals and organizations who have made an impact on the quality of health care within the state. The winners were selected by the publisher and editors of The Daily Record.
Dr. Hann has been a transformative medical leader for Brook Lane’s programs and services and to the community at large since his arrival in September 2021. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, he developed an innovative strategy to deploy portable Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) walls to create safe, segregated areas to prevent a lapse in patient admissions to our psychiatric hospital from acute care hospital emergency departments. He also implemented a new noninvasive program that has proven successful in alleviating the symptoms of treatment resistant depression that was previously unavailable in Western Maryland: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
“In the time he has served as CMO at Brook Lane, Dr. Hann’s accomplishments have been exemplary,” said Jeffery O’Neal, Chief Executive Officer. “He is a true example of a progressive, forward-thinking physician who is worthy of the recognition of Physician of the Year.”
Health Care Heroes are presented in the following categories: Lifetime Achievement, Advancements and Innovation in Health Care, Community Outreach (individual and organization), COVID-19 Heroes (individual and organization), Nurse of the Year, Nurse Practitioner of the Year, Physician of the Year, Physician Assistant of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Workplace Wellness Program of the Year.
“The 2023 Health Care Heroes provide exceptional care to those in need. They go above and beyond and work tirelessly to improve health care in our state,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of The Daily Record/BridgeTower Media. “Over the past several years they have adapted to face numerous challenges and rapidly changing needs. The Daily Record thanks them for their leadership, expertise and care.”
Honorees will be celebrated through a weeklong digital roll out June 22-26. Each day certain categories of honorees will be highlighted at TheDailyRecord.com, on The Daily Record’s social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) and in daily email alerts. Winners will be profiled in a special magazine that will be inserted into the June 26 issue of The Daily Record and will be available online at www.TheDailyRecord.com. The Event Partner is the Maryland Hospital Association.
