InSTEP Integrated Substance Abuse Treatment Program

In an effort to address the increasing need for treatment and support in our community in response to the growing addiction epidemic, Brook Lane now offers a substance abuse disorders program called InSTEP. This integrated care program is being held four days a week at both our North Village and Frederick Outpatient locations. The program consists of two levels of care for adults (18 years and older): Level 1 Outpatient Program and Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Program.

Level 1 Outpatient Program

This evening outpatient program is appropriate for individuals who show signs of a substance use disorder or for those who have developed significant problems in areas of their lives due to substance use and need ongoing education and person-centered treatment. Individuals who have co-occurring disorders, but whose mental health symptoms are stable and managed, can be considered for this outpatient program.

In Level 1, groups focus on cravings management, life skills, and relapse prevention. Participants are required to provide regular urinalyses. The 75-minute sessions are conveniently offered in the evenings.

Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient Services

This intensive outpatient group therapy is designed for those with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Following an integrated care-recovery approach, individuals will learn how to manage mental health and substance use disorder symptoms. Groups focus on the development of coping and life skills, relapse prevention and mental health management. Clients will learn how substances impact the brain, body and behavior through discussions, lectures, videos and other materials. Participants are required to provide regular urinalyses. The three-hour sessions are held from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays. Once the first phase of treatment is completed, clients will step-down to our Level 1 continuing care program, where they will focus on life management and continue to develop recovery skills.

Admissions and Intake

Interested individuals should call our admissions department at 301-733-0330 or 800-342-2992.

The first step is meeting with a licensed clinician for intake and referral to the InSTEP Program. This is followed by an orientation session with a substance use clinician to determine which program will best fit their needs, review program requirements and begin individualized treatment planning.

At the present time, we accept Beacon Health/Medical Assistance, Aetna, and Cigna, and currently are in negotiations with other insurance companies. Alternative funding may be available to assist those in need.
